This section describes the various command line argument accepted by insert-ethers which can be used to customize hostname, IPs address and other parameters of the discovered node during installation.
insert-ethers

[-p password] [-u host] [-d database]: they are used to change the hostname the password and the name of the backend database used by insert-ether and Rocks. Users should not use this arguments.
[--list-rcfiles]: it lists the RC file used by insert-ethers (RC file are internal configuration file used by Rocks)
[--list-project-info] it returns the Rocks version and the Roll this command belongs to
[--baseip ip address] the IP address that will be used for the first node, when installing multiple nodes insert-ethers start from this IP address and then it uses --inc to get the following IP addresses. Default is the highest IP address available in the private network. If the private network is 10.1.0.0 (with netmask 255.255.0.0) it will start from 10.1.255.255.
[--inc number] the increment value to use when determining the following IP address during the installation of multimple nodes. Default to -1. So if the start IP address is 10.1.255.255 the following IP address will be 10.1.255.254, 10.1.255.253, 10.1.255.252, and so on.
[--basename basename] this is the first part of the final hostname of the hosts that will be installed. The final hostname will be in the form of <basename>-<rack>-<rank> where rack and rank are two counter internally calculated by rocks.
[--cabinet number] [--rack number] this two options are equivalent. They can be used to increment the 'rack' part of the final hostname (hostname are in the form of <basename>-<rack>-<rank>). insert-ethers --cabinet 2 selecting compute node will install nodes with the hostname equal to: node-2-0, node-2-1, node-2-2, etc.
[--rank number] this can be used to set the rank part of the hostname of the installed node(). This number default to 0 at the first installed node and then it is automatically incremented by Rocks, but if the user wants to skip some number or wants to start from a number different from 0, it can use this option.
[--hostname hostname] this is the full hostname that will be assigned to the first host you will install with insert-ethers. If you specify this option insert-ethers will install only one host.
[--ipaddr ip address] it specifies the IP address that will be assigned to the first installed host. If you specify this option insert-ethers will install only one host.
[--replace hostname] it deletes hostname from the Rocks database and install 1 new discovered host with the same rack and rank of the deleted host. This command will install only one host. return.
[--remove hostname] it removes hostname from the rocks database this command is equivalent to 'rocks remove host hostname'. This command will not start the GUI, it will simply delete the hostname and return.
[--membership membership] You can specify the membership name and skip the first promt screen.
[--os the OS to install on the machines] it specifies the OS to install on the new discovered host. Default is linux.
